Ana Cortat is the co-founder of Hybrid Collab, a Business Transformation Consulting & Behavioral Research Design Firm that seeks solutions and develops innovative projects aimed at supporting the transformation processes of brands and businesses.
She is a Board Member of the Account Planning Group Brazil, having also co-chaired the study “Hostility, Silence and Omission” in 2017, which reported the abuse of power that led to serious cases of moral and sexual harassment in the Brazilian advertising industry. Throughout the year of 2018, she approached the topic in several articles and podcasts, besides conducting panels and debates in more than 60 advertising agencies and 10 universities nationwide.
With a solid career in advertising that spans 30 years, Ana led numerous cross disciplinary teams and worked for different categories and brands. Before deciding to open her own company two years ago, she was SVP – Head of Planning and Research at Leo Burnett Brazil (Publicis Group); SVP – Head of Strategy at Isobar Brazil (Dentsu Group); SVP – Head of Strategy at Africa Agency (Omnicon Group) and CSO at Pereira & Odell Brazil, where the development of award-winning campaigns went on to earn Lions at the Cannes International Festival of Creativity, in addition to Jay Chiat and Effie Awards.
Ana was named Planner of the Year twice by both the Brazilian Association of Advertising Practitioners and the Brazilian Advertising Association. In 2014, she was honored by Woman to Watch Brazil as one of the leading women for innovation and leadership in the Brazilian Marketing and Advertising industry. To this day, Ana Cortat is the only black woman to have occupied a Vice-Presidency position among the 10 largest Brazilian advertising agencies.
Moreover, her work often extends into media and popular culture. Ana believes that communication needs to walk side by side with cultural movements; following, listening and monitoring closely the development of political processes and issues involving gender identity, social inequality and whatever else might be relevant for the social and cultural contexts. Her experience in research and communication strategy includes the participation in two Brazilian Presidential political campaigns as well as eight State Government political campaigns.
Ana is a Singularity Alumnus, currently enrolled as an MBA student at the Berlin School of Creative Leadership and a teacher at the Miami Ad School in São Paulo. She is a highly-coveted keynote speaker and author. In addition she is also an avid defender of the need for the communication industry to recognize its power of influence to transform society and accelerate its action against the generation of hazardous waste such as the construction of patterns and stereotypes, and against the stimulation of irresponsible consumption behaviors.
In 2018 she was a guest speaker at TEDx with the theme “Overlapping Realities”, where she addressed the increasing risks of frictions that can lead to conflicts, caused by the greater number of realities visible to society as a result of technological development. She therefore defends the importance of accelerating the learning process and to focus on the human revolution while we cope with the consequences of the digital revolution.
