Elena Knox was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico where she learned how to tell what time of day it was by looking at the sun. With those skills in tow, she left the island for Boston University and after graduation started her career in advertising as a receptionist at Mullen in Boston. After nine months of answering phones, she pulled a Peggy Olson and became a copywriter. Stints at Crispin, Porter & Bogusky, Havas and SS&K followed. In that time she developed work for clients such as Jetblue Airlines, Zappos.com, Best Buy, TJMaxx and the NCAA. Once in creative leadership positions as a CD at Droga5 NY and most recently as a CD at Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam, Elena helped develop and launch global campaigns for Huggies, Allianz, Google, Amazon Music, MontBlanc and Visa. After living in Europe for three years and learning Dutch–which she’ll probably never use again–Elena recently returned to NYC as an ECD at BBDO NY. Elena only writes in cursive, is a lover of The New Yorker and can teach you to dance salsa if you ask enthusiastically. She lives in Brooklyn with her two favorite people: her husband and her five-year-old son.
