| Notes for Judging: | The Ilas Foundation, established by Dafna and Sofía, is dedicated to the prevention and mitigation of child sexual abuse. Inspired by Dafna's personal experience as a survivor, the foundation's efforts are driven by a commitment to safeguarding children from the trauma she endured. The foundation implements targeted prevention campaigns, strategically timed to coincide with periods of heightened risk or specific situations that may facilitate abuse. This film presents a narrative told through a deliberately disorienting lens, subverting traditional storytelling to explore what initially appears to be a mundane Christmas experience. The “ugly sweater” serves as a tangible anchor, gradually revealing a hidden truth that resonates deeply with the audience. The film’s final twist delivers a heart-wrenching emotional impact, prompting viewers to reflect on their own vulnerability. The distinctive narration, combined with unsettling art direction, music, and performances, creates a palpable sense of unease that draws the audience into the character’s disturbing reality. |
