| Notes for Judging: | Women have been protesting for decades for equality – but their messages remain the same until today. In Brazil, posters from the 70s and 80s against violence and wage inequality still apply nowadays. In 2025, a woman is killed every 17 hours, and the pay gap is 25%. The only way to change this is by continuing to resist. Eletromidia, Brazil’s largest OOH media company, believes change begins in the streets. Throughout the years, the company has developed many ways to turn its billboards not only into tools for brands, but also for important issues of the society, like making the streets safer and respectful for women. So, this International Women’s Day (March 8), we brought those historic posters back – as symbols of ongoing resistance. We revisited rare 1980s protest photos by Rosa Gauditano, one of the few female photojournalists of that era. Inspired by those images, we brought back the same powerful phrases, now redesigned with a modern look and printed on durable, tear-resistant materials (high-density polyethylene), using UV-protected ink. Our billboards became tools of resistance: people could get hold of the posters and join the protest just meters away – on the same iconic streets where they were first seen decades ago. The posters were carried through the march, appearing on social media and in newspapers. |
